GOVERNOR ROCHAS OKOROCHA’S REACTION TO THE REPORTED MURDER OF AN IMO WOMAN IN KANO


The governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has received with rude shock and indeed with utmost dismay the unfortunate report that a woman from the State, Mrs. Bridget Agbaheme was murdered in cold blood in Kano State over related religious issues and described the killing as the height of recklessness on the part of the perpetrators.


When he was informed about the disturbing incident, the governor took the necessary steps and even went beyond the media reports on the sad development to confirm the report and discovered that the woman in question was truly from Mbaitoli Local Government of the State.


At this stage, the governor has no option than to call on all relevant security agencies in Kano State to leave no stone unturned in carrying out thorough investigation into the killing of the woman, and also stop at nothing to bring those who carried out the murder to book and pay dearly for their wicked act.


The governor has also appealed to Imo indigenes in Kano State to remain calm to enable law enforcement agents do their job by carrying out the needed investigation into the matter and also take the necessary actions.


It is important to state here that no Citizen of the Country has any right to take the life of a fellow Citizen no matter the reason. That is why the security agencies would act and swiftly too on the incident to prove to all Nigerians that the life of any lawful Citizen of the Country is valuable and should not be taken by a fellow citizen under any guise


The governor has also commended the governor of Kano State for showing leadership by condemning the killing of the woman in Kano with dispatch.


He also commended the Police Command in Kano State for the actions they have already taken to that effect, and said criminals who indulge in criminal activities including murder under any pretence should be treated as such no matter where they come from.


Once again, the governor calls for calm on the part of Imo indigenes in Kano and elsewhere, while expressing optimism that security agencies would do their work towards apprehending the perpetrators to face justice.

Truly brain is a membrane that forgets after 21 days especially when it has not been in touch with a particular object, subject matter whether inanimate or animate until reminded for reasons.

It will be recalled that Governor Okorocha on the eve of 2011 election had honoured the Clergy when they organized a debate among the then frontline contenders during the race to the Douglas House. In that arena of truth and sincerity; when the human devils had not sown the seed of tares in Assumpta; when the innocents knew innocence, It was on assumpta that we heard from the people, they spoke and it came to pass despite the fact that we had an incumbent, Ikedi Ohakim who lost gallantly in that election.

Again, during the countdown to 2015 elections, Assumpta became another issue and because of the desperation among the angels of Hacate who were interested in having themselves crowned King at all cost, there were conspiracies of all sort; the intrigues were at the apogee; clandestine meetings held while huge money was voted to not only desecrate the historical Assumpta where truth lost its taste; the sons of demon were dressed in contaminated borrowed robes to look like arch angels but in them beats the drum of destruction; they were armed to the teeth; Though covered with precious regalia made of Arabian linen but there faces betrayed their heart of darkness. There identities were known with red cards and whistles to disturb the peace of Jerusalem.

Truly, they shouted. They hailed their gods. They booed and jeered even when their expected arch enemy had not arrived. The sang contrary to the tune associated with assumpta. Alas! The place known for holiness was turned into a market square for gamblers, drunkards and people of the street. The narrative is endless... What happened thereafter. Your guess is as good as mine.

Yesterday, during the requiem to pay the last respect to one of the Best, Late Bon Nwakanma, I learnt it became a place of history for all the negativity. They had not come to mourn neither were they there to condole the family members of the transited. Lo! They were there to sow the seed of discord, they harass and embarrass their Governor... Let us not forget in a hurry the Assumpta drama and its outcome...

I shall stop here for I have no answer to those who volunteered to be agents of misnomer and to deviants if not anathema to the progress of the society. I do not also have the time to begin argue what there were booing and jeering for they are immaterial to the issue at stake.

What goes around comes! The natural law is of God and remains constant as the Grundnorm to all good laws...

IMO DEPUTY GOVERNOR CELEBRATES PARENTS ON GLOBAL DAY OF PARENTS

As the world celebrates the Global Day of Parents, the Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere has joined other eminent citizens around the world to appreciate parents for living up to their parental responsibilities while calling on fathers to pay closer attention to the upbringing of their children.

Prince Madumere remarked that Global Day of Parents is a special day observed on June 1 of every year to honour and appreciate parents in all parts of the world for their selfless commitment to children and their lifelong sacrifice towards nurturing this relationship.

He therefore called on all and sundry to always celebrate parents to reciprocate their love, care with huge psychological and material investments they committed towards bringing them up.

He however called on the fathers who ordinarily feel their role ends with working out money for the family to look into the grey areas of instilling morals and values into the children, saying that mothers are over-burdened by domestic chores coupled with the grooming of the children.

He also emphasized the importance of family, which he described as a natural unit and basis of the society but posited that without the role of parents, the concept and place of family and society would be a mere farce.

He therefore called on everyone especially those whose parents are still living to take the welfare and the general well-being their uppermost responsibility; while submitting that posterity and natural justice will not kindly remember those who fail in this onerous responsibility.

OWELLE ROCHAS OKOROCHA FIVE YEAR GOVERNANCE: MIDAS TOUCH ON IMO

May 29th 2016 which also is the democracy day marks the five year Administration of our amiable and performing Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha as the Executive Governor of our great State.

The five year old Administration of this great achiever who is truly God sent to Imo State has brought about monumental transformation of our dear State. The Monumental achievement especially in this second tenure of the Rescue Mission Administration has began to prove detractors wrong and send cold shivers to the spines of his oppositions and competitors.

In the face of the current unfavorable global economic conditions, the present Administration led by our quintessial leader Owelle Rochas Okorocha has continued to showcase his ingenuity as an astute Administrator by embarking on numerous monumental and people oriented projects as if the milk and honey are still flowing in the land like before.

The projects and programmes of Owelle Ndi Igbo in recent time has amazed all and sundry both the supporters and oppositions of the Rescue Mission Administration. The question has remained where the huge resources used for the execution on these projects could be coming from.

The completion of the flyover along Okigwe Road Owerri and the nearly completed one at Amakohia, Orlu Road, the ongoing and nearly completed first ever road tunnel in the State along Port-Harcourt Road by Concord Hotel junction, the massive opening of new and significant roads, the ongoing erosion control work at Old Nekede road which His Excellency Owelle Anayochukwu Rochas Okorocha by his ingenuity constructed a bridge across with a bye-pass road linking Port-Harcourt and Aba roads are eloquent testimonies of your good works.

Again the massive desilting of gutters, the on-going expansion and dualization of major roads in the State, all within one year of second tenure are eloquent testimonies that the Governors achievement in the first tenure were not just to impress anyone, but borne out of inner most desire to make Imo State the number one in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s achievements are not limited in the area of capital projects and infrastructural development of the State, also in the area of human capital development. Our indefatiquable Governor has sustained the Free Education across all levels in the State which is undoubtedly the highest human capital development any Governor can bequeath to its citizens and this is even in the face of doubts and propaganda over the possibility of its continuation.

Being a visionary leader, Owelle Okorocha foresaw the possible downturn in the economy of the country occasioned by the fall in the prize of crude oil and other economic issues before anyone else and called out tor our people to embrace diversification through numerous opportunities in the Agro-allied sector and other entrepreneurship programmes. Those who listened and followed his noble advise are now better for it as the State Government has been supporting them to stand on their own as employees of labour and contributing their own quota to the economic growth of the State even as His Excellency has kept the gate open for as many as will hearken to the voice of reasoning and make efforts to invest in the Agro-allied sector.
The Micro Finance Bank established by our exceptional and examplary Governor for the sole purpose of making funds available to Imolites, especially youths who are ready to explore the numerous opportunities in different branches of agriculture and entrepreneurship sector.
What about the Imo State College of Advanced Professional Studies (ICAPS) where graduates and non-graduates alike have been provided with the opportunity to sharpen their professional skills? Also what about the Nneoma Skill acquisition Centres of the First lady of Imo State, the amiable Wife of the Governor, Ugo-Nneoma Nkechinyere Rochas Okorocha across the three senatorial zones of the State, for the same purpose of skill acquisition, economic empowerment and poverty alleviation?

The Rescue Mission team of Owelle Rochas Okorocha (OON), the First Lady Ugo-Nneoma Nkechi Okorocha, the Deputy Governor Prince Eze Madumere, the Chief of Staff Ugwumba Uche Nwosu and the entire Rescue Mission Ambassadors has done a lot in the state to bring total Rescue to the people of Imo State.
My prayer and that of the entire well meaning and appreciative Imolites is that God may continue to protect our amiable Governor, his family and the entire rescue mission team and that he may grant him more wisdom of ingenuity as well as more grace of selflessness to continue his selfless and sacrificial service to our dear State and its good people.
Imo is indeed better now.

Obama gives US highest research award to Nigerian professor Akinwande (PHOTOS)

Deji Akinwande, a Nigerian professor in the United States (US), has received America’s highest research award.

Earlier in the year, Akinwande was named by President Barack Obama, as one of the recipients of “the highest honour bestowed by the US government for science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers.”

Speaking to TheCable on Monday, Akinwande said he was awarded by Obama on May 5, 2016, at the White House, where the 105 researchers were hosted.

According to the White House, Akinwande was awarded for his “outstanding research accomplishments in nanomaterials, graphene device physics, and opto-electronics, and for dedication to the education of future scientists and engineers.”

Announcing the winners earlier in the year, Obama said: “These early-career scientists are leading the way in our efforts to confront and understand challenges from climate change to our health and wellness.

“We congratulate these accomplished individuals and encourage them to continue to serve as an example of the incredible promise and ingenuity of the American people.”

In an interview with TheCable, Akinwande, who grew up in Opebi Allen in the Ikeja area of Lagos State, said he left Nigeria as a teenager in 1994, and his novel idea was aimed at building more energy efficient electronic chips to make mobile phones last a week or two without charging.

The chairman of the 2016 Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Convention Planning Committee and Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has explained that the party removed Ali Modu Sheriff on Saturday as the party’s national chairman because his leadership was destabilising the party.

In an interview on Saturday night after the 2016 National Convention in Port Harcourt, Governor Wike said: “All along, the crisis has been about the former acting chairman whose emergence was strongly opposed.

“This is destabilising the party and so we had to let him go. What is important is the party and not the individual. No sacrifice is too much for anyone to make as far as PDP is concerned,” Mr. Wike said, according to statement released on Sunday by his media aide, Simeon Nwakaudu.

Mr. Wike said he had no personal interest in supporting Mr. Sheriff as he was the best option at the time he emerged.

He said PDP would continue to grow “from strength to strength” as it remains the only hope for the country.

Governor Wike said: “We will not allow the PDP to die or suffer divisions under our watch. History will never forgive us if we watch the party die.”

The governor said that the party leaders would work towards maintaining unity amongst all members of the party.

He said despite the challenges, the 2016 National Convention was successful as the party has been repositioned in the interest of the nation.

Osun school offers rescued Chibok girls scholarship

A private school in Osun State, Kunike International School, Osogbo, has offered to give full scholarship to the first two Chibok girls rescued from the captivity of the Boko Haram sect.

Amina Alli, rescued with her four-month-old baby, and Serah Luka were rescued last week from Sambisa Forest which is the hideout of the dreaded terror group.

The Director of Kunike International School, Mr. Amos Adekunle, announced the offer in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Saturday.

He said the girls needed to be encouraged to fulfil their dreams of getting quality education which was temporarily stopped by the terrorists who invaded their schools on April 14, 2014 and abducted over 200 girls.

The statement read, “The management of Kunike International Schools, Osogbo in conjunction with the management of Delta Schools District, in Vancouver, Canada is extending full scholarships (all tuitions and boarding) to the first two Chibok girls – Amina Alli and Serah Luka that were recently rescued from captivity.”

Adekunle said the two girls who were recently rescued should be encouraged to continue with their education in order to allow them to contribute their quota to the development of the country.
