A serial rapist and cultists arrested as residents of Isolo Jubilates
Isolo Lagos Residents in Wild Jubilation as Police Arrests Notorious Cultist, Alleged Rapist
A notorious cultist and rapist who had been terrorizing the Isolo and Ilasamaja areas of Lagos metropolis for a very long time, has being finally arrested.
The Lagos State police command has put an end to the reign of a notorious cult member and serial rapist simply identified as Wasiu, which made residents of Isolo and Ilasamaja environs of the metropolis erupt with wild jubilation as the suspect had been terrorizing the area for a very long time.
A resident, who refused to be named told The Guardian that, “Four months ago, he raped a 14-year-old girl. He locked up the girl in his room from 9.00a.m. to 8.00p.m., while the girl was repeatedly beaten and raped before she was later released.”
It was gathered that Wasiu was arrested by operatives of Ilasa Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Oriyomi Oluwasanmi, a Superintendent of Police (SP), following a series of complaints from concerned residents.
“He is a known cult member, who is a terror to the community. You needed to see jubilation by members of the community waving goodbye to him and telling him never to come back. He has been a terror,” a member of residents’ association said.
The Lagos Police spokesman, Dolapo Badmos, who confirmed the arrest said, “he’s been arrested and detained for rape. He is currently undergoing interrogation with our gender desk unit. I can assure you he would be prosecuted in court.”

MEDIA MANAGEMENT: IKPEAZU SHOWS HIS MEDIA AIDES THE DOOR
The Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu, has sacked his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Godwin Adindu, and the other members of his media team.
The sacking of Adindu and other aides was announced on the state-owned radio, on Thursday.
The statement was signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Chijioke Nwakodo.
The statement directed the ex-CPS and the other aides to hand over all government properties in their possession to the Permanent Secretary, Government House, Umuahia, Mr. Onyi Nwama.
Although no reason was given for the dismissal from office, a source close to the Abia State Government House said it might not be unconnected with the cat and mouse relationship among the members of the governor’s media team.
The source noted that the poor handling of the recent visit of the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, who was in the state to inaugurate some roads in Aba, on Wednesday, was not far from the immediate cause for their sacking.
The source said, “The visit of Governor Tambuwal, which was not covered by any national newspaper, was connected with the sacking of the media aides. The governor saw it as an embarrassment to the government.
“It is unfortunate that when some journalists get appointment with government, their colleagues in the field would become their main targets for intimidation.”
It was learnt that Adindu was away for an official assignment in Lagos and no arrangement was made to transport journalists to Aba to cover the event which resulted in the poor coverage of the event.

THE MAN...UGWUMBA UCHE NWOSU
A QUINTESSENTIAL LEADER PER EXCELLENCY AND A HOUSE HOLD NAME IN IMO STATE AND BEYOND
.... by NWADIKE CHIKEZIE, 07030411777
The name Hon.Uche Nwosu rings a bell where ever it is being mentioned. The reason is not because he is the richest . It is all about HUMILITY and LOYALTY to core.
Hon. Uche Nwosu whose parents are Rev.Daniel Nwaobi Nwosu (late) and Mrs Jemaimah Nwosu is a native of Umunwokwe Village, Eziama-Obaire autonomous Community in Nkwerre L.G.A, Imo –State, a graduate of Imo State University Owerri where he studied Urban and Regional planning. With dint of handwork, he excellently bagged the award of Bachelors of Science Degree ( B.Sc).
LEADERSHIP CALL
Leaders are born and not made. Leadership especially quality Leadership is not based on body height, body size, background, age etc but purely based on calling.
Hon. Uche Nwosu, the son of a Church Catechist embraced the word of God because he grabbed the fact that ‘THE FEAR OF GOD IS THE BEGINNING OF WISDOM’ (Prv. 9:10 , PS 111:10)
As a potential Leader and on the basis of allowing the Institution pass through him, he was involved in Student Leadership and served in various Offices of high responsibility with excellence and fairness. His active role in Student Union Government politics of Imo State University culminated in his being elected into various offices. Most of them are won with little or no opposition owing to his high value of acceptance , credibility and competence.
They include:
Elected the very first Students Union Government Director of Transport,
Secretary, Student Union Government Caretaker Committee.
Secretary, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Imo State Chapter
Director of Mobilization, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).
It is not about having opportunity; it also involves using the opportunity to build yourself. In the course of serving meritoriously, he was able to come in contact with numerous successful and International Politicians, Business men and Academicians among them is, His Excellency Owelle Rochas Anayo Okorocha.
This encounter with this detribalized and foremost Nigerian leader and Businessman of great repute, a philanthropist per excellence, educationist and humanitarian was something that is remarkable and worthy to hghight.
We all have destinies and it is God’s intention that our destinies be fulfilled but sometimes God uses fellow human beings to deliver this mandate against all odds. It is not always rosy but many people especially the Youths fall out of their Guardian Angel because of lack of patience, hope, belief, perseverance, endurance and sacrifice. Above all is Lack of humility and being steadfast to God by continuously trusting him.
In the case of Hon. Uche Nwosu, he never misused any opportunity that came before him. He remained a humble and confidant servant to his superiors. These endeared him to their hearts. This noble, cordial and mutual relationship with great show of concern and love he maintained and it became part of him.
Having discovered the treasure in Hon.Uche Nwosu, his loyalty, humility, sincerity, hardworking etc, at his graduation, Chief Owelle Rochas Okorocha engaged his services in his ROCHAS FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL, a non- profit organisation that has touched several lives positively. Having grown from strength to strength in terms of credibility, hardworking and reliability, he served in several positions and contributed immensely to the huge global success of ROCHAS FOUNDATION INTERNATIONAL.
In Rochas foundation and beyond, Hon. Uche Nwosu, served in various capacities:
Personal Assistant to the President of Rochas Foundation
Personal Assistant to the special Adviser on inter-party relations to the president and commander in-chief.
Director of finance, action alliance
Former national secretary, action alliance
Personal assistant to the president of the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
Deputy Chief of Staff to the foundation of Rochas foundation.
Due to his impeccable belief in the courage and philosophy of Chief Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Hon. Uche Nwosu is not only humble and loyal, he is hardworking and reliable to the extent that he has no time of his own till now.
Outside the regular job at Rochas Foundation, Hon Uche Nwosu developed competence and capacity in Real Estate, Aviation, Consultancy and Human Management. He has also undergone several professional training in Town Planning, Estate Management, Human Resources Development, Corporate Governance, Intelligence and Security among many others.
He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Corporate Administrators.
MORE LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES:
With the election victory of the last hotly contested election in the history of Nigeria where a sitting Governor Chief Ikedi Ohakim was voted out by the people of the State (Imo) and installed Chief Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Hon Uche Nwosu, having proved his onions in quality and competent Leadership of purpose, has served and is still serving in various strategic positions.
Chief of Staff, Imo State Government
Hon Uche Nwosu became the Deputy Chief of Staff (operation) in June 2011.
Commissioner for Lands, Survey, Urban Planning
Commissioner for Lands, Survey, Housing and Urban Planning in April 2012
Commissioner for Lands, Survey & Urban Planning
Deputy Chief of Staff ( Admin) 2014
It is of great interest to note that all these appointments came as a result of competence, a square peg in a square hole.
For instance, in Ministry of Lands, Survey and Urban planning, Hon. Uche Nwosu has dwarfed the achievements of past commissioners of the Ministry by way of making landmark achievements and transformations. Just as his master believed in him and gave him the enabling encouragements which made him to bring out all his potential, he was able to achieve the whole lot because of his laudable leadership per excellence.
Hon. Uche Nwosu redeployment to Ministry came at a time the image and rating of the Ministry was in a very deplorable State. The place was akin to a beehive of activities for land racketeering and malfeasance. Some staff and their agents engaged in the illegal trade in land. The staff had low moral, and some engaged in personal ventures at the detriment of government business. Every thing looked impossible and difficult.
On his arrival at the Ministry, just like an astitute administrator the young dynamic commissioner sounded it clear that it would not be business as usual and called for the cooperation of all to achieve the Rescue Mission Agenda of the present administration. He assured them that their welfare and entitlements would be uppermost in his mind.
In about a year of being on the saddle, Nwosu has achieved the following:
** Introduced transparency in the allocation of land and the elimination of sharp practices.
** Opening of layouts which ensure that allotees can develop their land without hindrance.
**Payment of compensation to original land owners. This has reduced and diffused the tensed situation he met arising from protest from land owners crying for compensation. He has been able to clear the backlog of claims inherited from past administrations.
**Renovation and reactivating the Zonal Offices of the ministry which was in a parlous state.
**Provision of Office furniture and work tools to staff of the Ministry
**On staff welfare, the workers of the ministry has never had it so good, no wonder they engaged in prayer sessions for the return of Nwosu to the ministry.
** Amongst other things, Chief Nwosu:
>>Donated a brand new bus to the Staff Welfare Committee of the Ministry
>>Makes a monthly contribution of 100 thousand Naira to the staff welfare committee as his own contribution to their activities.
>>In December 2012, he gave every individual staff of the ministry half bag of rice
>>7 members of staff won various prizes like LCD TV, Deep Freezers through balloting.
>> 5 staff of the ministry were allocated lands through balloting to motivate them.
>>Operates an open door system with staff having access to him as at when due.
MARRIAGE:
Due to the strength of father and son relationship between Chief Owelle Rochas Okorcha and Hon Uche Nwosu, the former had no doubt giving the later the hands of her first daughter in marriage. Hon (Chief) Uche Nwosu is married with kids to Lolo Uloma Nwosu ( nee Okorocha), the first daughter of Chief Owelle Rochas Okorocha. They have been living happily because each has what the other desires. Also, it worth to note that the parents of the bride have overwhelming confidence in the person of Hon.Uche Nwosu,(capable and responsible, caring and loving husband).
RISE TO FAME
In all these, Hon. Uche Nwosu has remained humble and loyal. He has never allowed hat others will call success to bow him up. He has maintained his status quo of simple and humble UCHE NWOSU till now, a situation some youths will use as abuse, oppressing others and being nuisance to the society.
It is clear that hon. Uche Nwosu climbed the ladder of life to where he is now. He didn’t believe is using fast lane unlike so many youths of today. Just like the biblical injunction, Hon. Uche Nwosu humbled himself and that is why God lifted him up.
IS HE A BILLIONAIRE?
“At the end of life we will not be judged by how many diplomas we have received, how much money we have made, how many great things we have done.
We will be judged by “I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat, I was naked and you clothed me. I was homeless, and you took me in.”
“I would rather make mistakes in kindness and compassion than work miracles in unkindness and hardness.”...Mother Theresa of Calcutta
One good thing about him is that he shares whatever he has with people no matter how small. He can even deny himself in other to reach out to people unlike the common selfish practice by people who forgot their humble beginning once they have a lift in comfort. Before the peoples’ glare, it is as if he is a billionaire. The question is : Is Hon. Uche Nwosu the wealthiest man in Imo State? The answer is NO. The issue here and the mark of difference is that he shares whatever he has with people in need. He hates seeing people in difficulty and never spares a second in responding to peoples’ plight once he can.
Empowerment:
The Youths of Imo state and beyond are very grateful to God for giving them a leader like Hon. Uche Nwosu. This is because of his character content especially in the area of Youth Empowerment. It is on record that Hon. Uche Nwosu who is not interested in counting his assistance to people has empowered thousands of Youth, Women and Men in various capacities.
He is instrumental to so many youths in various positions of authority and affluence especially in government without requesting for anything in return. His ideology is that: an empowered youth should empower another youth, thus spreading the empowerment network which is a scheme targeted at reducing poverty especially among the Youths.
APPEAL: He is appealing to all Youths,Men and Women etc. who are yet to benefit from his magnanimity to be patient and not resort to acts inimical to integrity .

Imo was at the mercy of empowered miscreants when Okorocha came on board – Deputy Governor
Eze Madumere, deputy governor of Imo State, left the organised private sector of Corporate America where he was a brands expert to carry the ballot. Today, he is a major stakeholder in the Imo Rescue Mission Agenda. He spoke with ZEBULON AGOMUO on the achievements of the Rochas Okorocha administration and the progress of the state in the current dispensation. Excerpts:
You were a director for Women and Youth Mobilisation for Rochas Okorocha’s campaign in Imo State when he was a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 1998 and also acted as Chief Strategist on Media and Logistics for his presidential bid under the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) in 2002-2003, then his Chief of Staff and now his deputy. What is it about you and Governor Okorocha that we don’t know?
Chronicling my political relationship with my leader and the incumbent governor of Imo State will be quite difficult for time and space will not permit me to do so. $ 2.29 M PROPERTY : OHAKIM HAS CASE TO ANSWER, EFCC INSISTS
Ex governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday urged a Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss the no-case submission filed by former Imo State governor, Ikedi Ohakim, after the prosecution closed its case with six witnesses in his ongoing trial on money laundering charges.
The EFCC is prosecuting Ohakim who was Imo State Governor between 2007 and 2011 on three counts of money laundering.
The prosecution accused Ohakim of purchasing the property at 60, Kwame Nkrumah Street, Plot No 1098, Cadastral ZoneA04, Asokoro District, Abuja with cash payment of $2.29m which was said to be dollar equivalent of N270m in November 2008.
Ohakim was also accused of failing to declare the property as part of his assets when asked by the EFCC to do so.
Ohakim filed his no-case submission after the prosecution closed its case on May 5, claiming that the evidence led failed to link him with the alleged offences.
But the prosecuting lawyer, Mr. Festus Keyamo, on Monday urged the court to reject the no-case submission made on behalf of the defendant by his lawyer, Awa Kalu (SAN).
Keyamo said the prosecution had led sufficient evidence to establish its case against the defendant.
The prosecutor urged the court to order the defendant to enter his defence.
Keyamo, while adopting his written submission in opposition to the no-case submission, noted that the defendant had, in his statement to the EFCC admitted making payment for the property in dollars, but later said the payment was made in naira cash.
He maintained that the prosecution had proved that that Ohakim attempted to conceal the source of the property and the source of the fund which he said was an element of money laundry.
He faulted claim by the defendant that he (Ohakim) that he had withdrawn his confessional statement, when he freely made the statement admitting making payment for the property.
Keyamo added that it was too late for Ohakim to claim to have withdrawn his confessional statement when he did not object at the point of tendering it as exhibit.
“If he was not in a state of mind to make those statements, in which he implicated himself, he should have said so. It is trite law that it is not at the state of submission that one can object to a statement, it is at the point of tendering it,” Keyamo said.
Faulting the claim by Ohakim that he could not remember how payment was made for the house, Keyamo said it was strange that an adult could claim to have forgotten how such a transaction was carried out.
He urged the court to take judicial notice of the fact that no man would forget how he acquired his house.
“It is either the court finds that he did not own the house or he owned and acquired it, but failed to declare it. It will help to shed light on the hidden issues if the defendant is called upon to enter his defence,” Keyamo said.

In his speech at the meeting, Governor el-Rufai said that the governors from the northern part of the country condemned totally the murder of the Igbo woman in Kano, and that the matter should be treated as a case of murder while those responsible must be brought to face the wrath of the law.

Assembly crisis: Reps summon Kogi gov, chief of army staff
The House of Representatives on Tuesday summoned the Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Yahaya Bello, over the festering leadership crisis in the state House of Assembly.
It accused the governor of encouraging five out of the 25-member legislature to continue sitting, defying a resolution of the National Assembly in which it assumed control of the state assembly.
The group of five recently passed the 2016 Appropriation Bill of the state and also approved the nominees for commissioners and special advisers for Bello “illegally.”
The governor is to appear along with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai, before a panel constituted by the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara.
The panel is chaired by the Leader of the House, and member of the All Progressives Congress from Lagos State, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila.
Buratai was dragged into the matter following reports that Bello allegedly secured the services of soldiers to give protection to five members to continue to sit and make laws for the state.
Lawmakers also pointed out that an Abuja Federal High Court on May 19, “nullified the purported” impeachment of the Speaker of the House, Mr. Momoh Jimoh-Lawal.
Jimoh-Lawal’s impeachment had triggered the crisis, which had seen the National Assembly jointly passing a resolution in March to assume control of the state assembly in compliance with Section 11(4) of the 1999 Constitution ( as amended).
Tuesday’s decision of the House to summon Bello and Buratai came after a motion of urgent national importance moved by a member from Enugu State, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ujam.
It was a session where angry Reps also threatened to initiate impeachment proceedings against Bello.
One angry member from Gombe State, Mr. Ali Isa, argued, “We can begin a process to impeach the governor. Before law as it stands today, the National Assembly is the legislative House of Kogi State.”
Ujam mentioned instances of what he termed, “illegality and impunity” in the state beginning from May 31.
He stated that on May 31, masked armed men reportedly invaded the legislative quarters in Lokoja, “shooting into the air and causing pandemonium in an attempt to either assassinate the G-15 members of the Kogi State House of Assembly or intimidate them from carrying out their legislative functions.”
Ujam added, “The House is aware that the armed military men were alleged to be officers of the Nigerian Army led by one Captain Usman from Nigerian Army Records, Lokoja in company with the Chief Security Detail and escorts of the governor.

It was learnt that the tanker driver struggled to regain control, before the truck hit the cars, a white 190 Mercedes Benz V-Boot and a Honda Prelude saloon car, which somersaulted twice.
An eyewitness told Southern City News that the driver of the trailer used his truck to prevent the fuel tanker from running across the Aba river bridge where passengers were boarding vehicles to different parts of the city centre.
He said, “If the fuel tanker had crossed the bridge, there would have been casualties as many passengers were boarding vehicles to the city centre around the bridge.”
Some residents who spoke with our correspondent called on the state and the Federal Government to come to the aid of residents of the area by building a flyover at the bridge head to prevent accidents around the area.

Adesina listed some of the steps being taken to include consultations and the revisiting of the document signed by the late President.
“Every effort is being made to restore calmness to the Niger Delta, including consultation, and taking a fresh look at the gazette signed by the Umaru Yar’Adua government, so that the agreements contained therein will be implemented,” the presidential spokesman said.
The Senior Special Assistant to President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang, had at a press conference on Friday confirmed that some of officials of the Federal Government were already holding discussions on how to end the violence.
Enang had said some ministers along with top government officials from the Niger Delta had opened talks with the governors and aggrieved people from the region on how to resolve the conflict.

“That is going on and they are the representatives of Mr. President. I will not tell you what Mr. President wants to do in person but these are officers and offices which are dealing with this matter.”
NAVAL OFFICER, 18 OTHERS KILLED IN RIVERS STATE.
Gunmen suspected to be cult members on Saturday killed 19 persons in Aluu community in Ikwerre Local Government Area and Obite community in Etche council area of Rivers State.
A naval officer was among those killed when members of two cult groups stormed the communities and engaged each other in a free-for-all.
The gunmen, believed to be of Greenlanders cult, invaded Aluu in reprisal against a rival group, Icelanders and killed 15 persons, including a nursing mother.
A naval personnel, who was among the Joint Task Force team that went to the area to bring the situation under control, was hit by a bullet from the cultists.
Many others were injured during the attack in the Aluu community.
It was gathered that the cult members also killed some innocent persons and left several others with bullet wounds.
Some of the cult members also stormed Etche community and killed four persons, a community source, who witnessed the shootings, told SUNDAY PUNCH.
It was learnt that the gunmen invaded a superstore in Omuoda village, opened fire and killed several people.
The bandits later advanced to Omuahunwo village and killed four of their victims who were suspected to be cultists.
Our correspondents gathered that the assailants carried out the coordinated attacked based on information that some members of the Icelanders were taking refuge in Aluu. The incident left the residents of the area in anxiety as some people in the affected communities fled their homes.
A source who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “Some cult members believed to be members of Greenlanders entered the community and killed some people. The boys operated in a very terrible manner. “At the moment, people are running away and nobody knows who is who. The cult boys entered the community by 8am and started shooting the people they described as their enemies.
“The Icelanders boys were the ones that shot the Degbam boys, but the fear now is that the Degbam cult group has written a letter to the community, asking the residents to flee because they are going to revenge,’’ a source said.
When contacted, the Caretaker Chairman of Ikwerre LGA, Mr. Samuel Nwanosike, stated that the reports about the incident were overblown.
Nwanosike stressed that the government had swiftly responded to the situation and restored normalcy in the area.
The council chairman, who visited the area with some security personnel, stated that the bandits had been chased out of the community.
Nwanosike added that soldiers raided some hideouts in the area and rescued a victim, Kenneth Wobunwo, who was abducted two weeks ago. Wobunwo is the paramount ruler of Aluu community.
Nwanosike, however, confirmed that some of the hoodlums, who caused that unrest in the area, had been arrested during the security intervention.
When contacted, the state Assistant Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Grace Iringe-Koko, said she had not been briefed about the incident.

Three suspended members of the Imo State House of Assembly, Ifeanyi Lawrence Duruji, Ngozi Sylvia Obiefule and Obinna Arubrose Egu representing Ehime Mbano, Isu and Ngor Okpala State constituencies respectively have been recalled to join their colleagues in the law making body.
Hon. Acho Ihim, the Speaker of the House, who pronounced their reinstatement during a fully attended session of the House, said that the suspended lawmakers were being recalled based on their manifest demonstration of remorse and penitence which they exhibited while on suspension.

Ihim said while one of them went totally on her knees before the committee pleading for forgiveness, another as contained in the report dropped his arrogance, wrote a confessional and humble letter denouncing his actions and that of his constituency, just as the third dissociated himself from the acts that gave rise to the suspension, pleading for pardon.
Ihim who is also the Vice President of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) African Region affirmed that following their plea for leniency and forgiveness, the House in line with the committee’s recommendations lifted their suspension beginning from Tuesday, June 7, 2016 when the House would reconvene.
It would be recalled that the recalled legislators were suspended two months ago by the House over acts capable of crippling the operations of the Assembly.
