2017 World Malaria day: Wife of Governor commends TC chairman of Orlu LGA, Barr.Ijeoma Igboanusi



The Rescue Government of  Imo State Government has joined the global community to mark the 2017 World Malaria Day. The programs was officially flagged off by the wife of the Executive Governor of Imo State,  Ugonneoma Nkechinyere Rochas Okorocha PhD.

While addressing the mammoth crowd,the wife of the Executive Governor of Imo State,  Ugonneoma Nkechinyere Rochas Okorocha PhD was full of praises to the anchor person to the program who is the TC Chairman of Orlu LGA for her commitment towards bettering the lives of the people and ensuring good governance.



The colourful event was anchored by the Transition Committee Chairman of Orlu LGA, Hon. Nneoma Barr. (Mrs) Ijeoma Igboanusi.

The event which in every measure showed the eagerness and commitment of the Health Compliant Rescue Miss
ion Government of Imo State was flagged off by the wife of the Executive Governor of Imo State, Ugonneoma (Mrs) Nkechinyere Okorocha PhD. This took place at the open field of Premier Primary School, Amaifeke, Orlu.

The event saw the mobilisation of rural women, pregnant and nursing mothers who came out in their thousands to be part of the sensitization program.

That went a long way to inform that the TC Chairman of Orlu LGA knows her onion when it comes to health matters.

As a mother, she knew that pregnant women and Children under 5 years are most vunerable to Malaria attack.

The theme: "END MALARIA FOR GOOD" was well captioned to reflect the determination of the Government to eradicate Malaria which is responsible for about 3 out of ten deaths in Children and 1 out of 10 deaths in pregnant women.

In her address, the Imo State Commissioner for Health,Women Affairs and Social Development, Barr. Ngozi Njoku described Malaria as not only dangerous to health but also affects the Individual and State economy.

In similar development, the TC Chairmaon of Orlu, Barr. Ijeoma Igboanusi thanked the governor of Imo State, Chief Owelle Rochas Okorocha for his efforts to secure the lives of the citizens against Malaria invasion.



She charged all the relevant stakeholders to live up to expectation, thus complimenting the efforts of the governor towards rolling back Malaria from the State.

The event was also marked with the sharing of Free Treated mosquito Nets, drugs and other edibles to the pregnant and burning women.

The Chairman of the occasion thanked the organiser of the event for proper planning, noting that it can only come from somebody who thinks about others.
