The State High Court, Owerri, venue for the sitting of the National Assembly Petitions Tribunal is filled to the brim and overflowing as constituents of the Senator-elect, show massive solidarity to their Senator and outgoing governor.
Women, youths and artisans who transported themselves to the venue of the tribunal sitting, declared that they are ever determined to defend the mandate which they freely gave to His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okorocha, as their Senator.
According to Chief Macanthony Uzondu from Oru-West, there are high level manipulations targeted at denying the Igbos a strong voice in the present Nigerian polity. He however expressed hope that the judiciary, being the last hope of the common man and the gatekeeper of democracy, will not allow these dangerous conspiracies to stand.
"I am happy that those who wish to challenge the victory of His Excellency are in court, that is the right thing to do. However, you can clearly observe some high level manipulations from the APC in collaboration with the INEC to rob His Excellency of his well-earned mandate, but I trust the judiciary to do justice and keep manipulators and anti-democrats at bay."
For Dr. Mrs. Josephine Udoji, she is at the tribunal as a women leader in Orlu zone and a mother in solidarity with Orlu people who freely gave their votes to Owelle Rochas Okorocha as their preferred Senator.
"We voted for Owelle massively, the women, the youths and the men. Majority of us voted for the APC and Owelle, and we do not have any doubts that he will retain the mandate we gave him. He is the best for us and he means well, not just for the people of Orlu zone, but for all Nigerians and I appeal to those challenging his victory to sheathe their swords and wait for their time."
