Cleaners scale cliff face to pick up trash

What can be so hard about picking up rubbish? While it may seem like a straightforward enough job, in some places being a garbage collector means you really must have a head for heights! Huang Guiping, a cleaner at Shiniuzhai, Hunan Province, certainly has to put more effort than most to make the scenic area look clean and tidy – he has to dangle over the cliff edge to pick up trash.

These stuntman cleaners risk their lives to pick up empty bottles, plastic bags as well as other trash that tourists have carelessly thrown over the cliff.

Armed with only the most basic safety equipment – a rope – Huang Guiping has to attach himself to bars at the top of the cliff before lowering himself down over the edge, abseiling on the cliff face a hundred-meters above the steep valley below.

Tourists all stood by and watched in awe, and hopefully next time they would think twice before they litter carelessly.
