Elderly women with their breast open have staged protest in support of the Benue state anti-open grazing law.
No fewer than 2000 women in Benue State with majority of elderly women with their breasts open, staged protest on the streets of Makurdi, Benue state.
This uncommon display of attitude according to them was in support of the newly enacted anti-open grazing law of the State.
Some of the elderly women came out without wearing any braless and chanting solidarity song to the government.
The State government on Wednesday implemented the law that bans herdsmen from indiscriminate grazing in the state.
In contrast, the herdsmen have however vowed to resist the law no matter the implications. They are of the view that the grazing law is targeted at them and at such will not stand.
Recall that many lives have been lost and properties destroyed following series of clash between community members and herdsmen after the cows managed by the herdsmen destroyed the farmlands of some community members.
The ugly development of high insecurity has attracted the attention of Federal Government to the area which saw the Chief of Army Staff, General Brutal making several visits to the area in order to restore peace and encourage peaceful mutual coexistence.
Meanwhile, the executive governor of Benue State, Ortom has described the Law as a win win situation that will bring about long lasting peace and encourage development.
He also noted that as the Chief Security officer of the State, he is interested in having a peaceful State where everyone is free to go about their businesses without fear or favour. He maintained that a situation whereby farmers are loosing both their lives and crops does not mean well to the State.
