Rivers students prevent Wike from gaining access to Chatham House

Students who are under the overseas scholarship of the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency, RSSDA, on Monday tried to stop Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike when he arrived the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House in London.

A mild drama occurred when the students stormed the motorcade of the Governor on his arrival at Chatham House in what seemed like a protest.

The students were seen bearing placards with inscriptions like: “we RSSDA students are now destitute, please pay our fees”, “Mister Projects please don’t abandon the RSSDA Projects”,

“Education is the bedrock of sustainable development,” and so on.
However, the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike was later seen addressing the students, but details of his address was not known.

Rivers students under the overseas scholarship of the RSSDA have been lamenting the non-payment of their fees and allowances for almost two years.

You will recall that the Rivers State Government recently released the sum of one million dollars to offset the school fees of twenty-eight final year students.

Governor Nyesom Wike was at the Royal Institute of International Affairs, Chatham House in London to discuss issues of development, with Rivers state as the spotlight.
