The efforts of the Principal Officer to the Governor of Imo State on Environment, Hon. Jeff Nwoha and his Vigilant Team has been commended on no small amount by the Chief of Staff, Imo State Government House, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu.
This was made known to the press during the parading of Illegal Sand Miners arrested today by the ENTRACO TEAM led by the Acting MD, Hon. Jeff Nwoha.
According to Hon Nwoha, acting on a tip off, his vigilant Team swung into action and was able to burst a Team of professional illegal Sand Miners who operate along the bank of Otammiri River , arrested three of them while the rest are still at large.
The visibly angry ENTRACO Boss
condemned the act of the criminals who fleece the Environment in the name of business. According to him, such action easily can lead to loss of lives through land slides and initiation of monstrous gully erosion attack.
On their efforts, the Chief of Staff, Imo State Government House, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu thanked the ENTRACO Team for their good work. He called on Imolites to always be on guide to protect the Environment from disaster especially humanly induced ones .
The Chief of Staff used the opportunity to remind all that the Government of Imo State under the dynamic leadership of Chief Dr Owelle Rochas Okorocha frowns at illegal activities against the Environment like Sand Mining and related activities.
We have challenging Erosion Sites in the State that are being tackled with the help of the Federal Government and cannot afford to have more especially now that the resources of the State is lean, he added.
He further warned that the Government will not take it light with anybody found engaging in any activity capable of causing environmental degradation.
