Minister of Health , (State) visits Imo State,as Chief of Staff, Imo State Government House commends Dcn Chike Okafor for taking Health Sector to enviable height in Imo State


The Chief of Staff, Imo State Government House, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu was among the Imo State Team led by the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, SGI, Sir George Eche that on behalf of the Governor , Owelle Rochas Okorocha received the Honourable Minister for Health (State), Dr. Osagie Ehanire and his entourage.

The Minister who came on official visit to the state was accompanied by other top staff of the ministry including the Chairman, House Committee on health, Dcn Chike Okafor,
member representing the good people of  Ehime Mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency in Federal House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria. They are in the state on a fact finding mission towards upgrading of Federal Medical Centre, Owerri to the status of a Teaching Hospital and also interact with the Interim Management committee incharge of the institution.


The Chief of Staff was very appreciative of the efforts of the Hon member representing the Ehime mbano, Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber,Hon. Dcn Chike Okafor for his efforts in contributing towards the development of the Health Sector especially in Imo State.
Speaking to Government House Press Team, the Chief of Staff maintained that Dcn Chike Okafor has proved his mettle and as a dependable Imolite who has the interest of the State and the Nation at heart.

Chief Nwosu commended his relentless efforts towards the resolving of the unprecedented crisis that rocked the Federal Medical Center , FMC, Owerri, Imo State, a situation he described as an unfortunate experience that paralyzed access to proper Medical attention in the State . According to him, since his inauguration as a Federal house member and his assumption of duty as Chairman, House Committee on Health Services in the Green Chambeer, he has been able to attract a lot of dividends of democracy to the State.

He described the upgrading of Federal Medical Centre, Owerri to the status of a Teaching Hospital as a welcome development, noting that such feat will boost the presence and availability of quality Health Services within the South East Geopolitical zone.
His efforts brought the  Minister for Health, late last year,in an effort to bring lasting peace to FMC, Owerri. This led to the appointment of an interim Management Committee led by Prof. Ndubuisi Eke.
Other dignitaries present were the S.A to the Imo State Governor on Health, Dr. Edward Ihejirika, the Imo State Commissioner for Health, Mrs. Ngozi Njoku, Deputy Chief of Staff, Engr Kingsley Uju

The Minister was accompanied by his Senior Technical Assistant Dr. Shuaibu Belgore, Dr. Kamal siame, S.A to the Minister, the Director of hospital services, Dr. Patience Asinubi,  Dr. Onwudiwe, all of the Federal ministry of Health, Abuja. As well as Prof. Uche Ezem, Dean, college of Medicine, Imo State University, Owerri.
