The Executive Governor of Imo State, Chief Dr Owelle Rochas Okorocha has redeemed his promise of providing an administrative Vehicle for the Students Union Government, Imo State University.
Presenting the Bus to the President, Students Union Government, Imo State University, the Chief of Staff, Imo State Government House, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu
thanked the Governor, Chief Dr Owelle Rochas Okorocha for his efforts towards uplifting of Education and Academic development of Students in Imo State despite the outrageous lean resources of the State. This he said earned him Commander of free and quality Education Title till today.
The former Student of Imo State University who served in the capacity as the Director of sports, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu charged the students to always identify with programs and activities that will add value to themselves.
The Chief of Staff also mentioned to them that the ongoing IMSU ASUU strike is highly regretted, calling on IMSU ASUU to consider the plights of Students and make demands that are realizable based on the Economic situation in the Country. The Chief of Staff used the opportunity to appeal to ASUU IMSU to see Imo State Government as a partner in progress and not otherwise.
Responding, the Student Union President, Comrade Nwanna Emeka thanked the Governor for his unprecedented show of love and commitment to Education . He described the provision of the vehicle as a morale booster to his Government , assuring of improved and increased services to the Students.
The SUG President also thanked Ugwumba Uche Nwosu for all his efforts towards the welfare of the Students and the Institution .
The first Student of Imo State University equally appealed to both IMSU ASUU and Imo State Government to resolve the impasse, citing the negative implications to the Society including brain drain. He wished for a system that will completely eradicate interruption of academic activities in higher Institutions if learning.
Barr. Paschal Onwukaike who is the TC Chairman, Nkwerre LGA and also an Alumnus of Imo State University who served as Secretary General during his school days joined his voice in advising the students. He supported the goodwill from the Governor.
